Our plan

At PlasticScore, we are on a mission to bring an end to trashy dining, and create a world where you don't have to worry about getting single-use plastic (or any other waste) wherever you dine. Here's our plan to make it happen:

1. Collect data on restaurant waste practices

We’ve built our mobile app and are growing our community to collect data for restaurants all over the US (and later the world). You can’t manage what you don’t measure, so this data is the foundation for making an impact.

You can help out by reviewing all of the restaurants that you order from on the PlasticScore app and sharing it with your friends!

2. Provide restaurants the tools

We’re using the review data to identify best practices for every kind of restaurant, and building targeted tools and guides that make it easy for restaurants to reduce waste.

There is a lot of misinformation and greenwashing in this space that makes it difficult for restaurants owners to know what to do. Our tools will give them a simple way to figure out what is actually better for the environment and for their business.

3. Scale up our impact

The really cool part is that we don’t need to have everyone using PlasticScore to have a huge impact. With less than 70,000 reviewers, we could quickly have good review coverage across the whole US. Then we’ll license our rating to big review platforms like Google and Yelp, and get restaurants everywhere to pay attention to reducing waste as much as they do to customer reviews.

The transparency of our rating will create healthy competition between restaurants to improve, and our tools will make it easy for them to find the right solutions for their business. With this plan, we will drive the massive change we need to limit the impacts of trashy dining.
