Restaurant Spotlight - Somebody People

Somebody People is an all-vegan restaurant in Denver’s South Broadway neighborhood serving up fresh vegetable-forward plates with mediterranean inspired flavors. They have sustainability built into their foundation, and we absolutely love what they are doing with takeout!

Packaging Breakdown

Reusable Metal Tiffins

Want to have an amazing takeout experience without throwing anything away? Is that even possible? Yes it is, and Somebody People makes it a classy experience with their reusable and returnable metal tiffin program. Here’s how it works:

1. Just write select the “Pack In Tiffin” option when ordering your items. If you don’t have one already, you’ll need to purchase one, which will be $10 off when combined with a food order.

2. Each tier of the tiffin can hold one menu item - a three tier tiffin will let you fit three menu items - and make sure you select “Pack In Tiffin” for each item you want packed.

3. Next time you order, bring it back and exchange it for a clean one! The tiffins are commercially cleaned at high temperatures that remove COVID-19 and any other contaminants.

You don’t need to order from Somebody People every week to make the program worth it (but you might want to!). The tiffins are great for storing leftovers, packing your lunch, and they don’t leach anything into your food like plastic tupperware. They’re great to have around the house anyway, and Somebody People’s return program just makes it that much better!

Single-Use Packaging - 100% Compostable or Recyclable, No Plastic

If you don’t go with the reusable tiffin (though we hope you do!), all the single-use packaging is either commercially compostable or readily recyclable.

Reusable Glass Jars for Drinks and Sauces

Ordering a juice, cocktail, coffee, or one of their house made sauces? All these come in reusable glass jars at no extra cost. You can keep these for yourself, or they’ll happily take them back to clean them and use for someone else!

Bags

You’ll get a paper bag given to you automatically, but that’s to limit interactions between people due to COVID-19. Once things get back to normal, they’ll happily fill up your reusable bag!

Extras

They’re awesome at reducing waste by not giving you things you don’t ask for, like straws, utensils, and napkins! The only things we can really nitpick are that we got masking tape (it’s compostable) to label the jars and did get a printed receipt automatically.

Summing It Up

Somebody People is leading the pack in zero waste takeout, and one of the only restaurants in Denver offering a reusable container program. If you want to have awesome food and drinks while lowering your impact, this is your go-to spot.

They’re open for dine-in, taking online orders for takeout, and are offering weekly fresh organic produce boxes. If you live at The Henry, 1000 Broadway, or Hanover, let them know and they’ll deliver right to your door.

They also just started to offer zero-waste delivery with Infinity Goods! To celebrate Plastic Free July, Infinity Goods is slipping one $100 and two $50 prizes into 3 lucky grocery or restaurant orders this month, and are offering 5% off all orders with the code "PLASTICFREEJULY".
